G4225 : Art Glass, Moser decanter set Moser $0.00
Category : sold
Sub Categories : Art Glass, Bohemian, Moser
The decanter and cordials are hexagonal shaped, three layer cased glass and have amber cabashon cut panels, gold rims and gold-enamel Rococo scroll work over the remainder of the glass. The decanter has radial miter cuts with a fine line running along the apex of each cut around the base. The only mark that appears on this set is a gold mark 14. on the base of the decanter and a number “9.” in gold on the stopper. This type of marking usually is used to ensure the correct stopper is matched with the decanter. While the numbers do not match they do indeed fit perfectly and the factory cut stopper has not been cut or ground to fit. The decanter is 10 ¾” tall and the cordials are 2 ¾”. A similar decanter with 6 cordials and a tray with green cabashons panels is pictured in plate 18, page 53 of the book “Moser- Artistry in Glass 1857 – 1938”. All of the seven cordials show some signs of normal wear with 2 of them showing a little more wear with extremely fine rough edges or chips on the bottoms (see photos with red marks showing where the damage is. The first photo shows a small chip of about 1/8" wide and is very shallow and at the edge. The second photo shows a small crack by one of the hexagon edges. It is very difficult to feel and then only, but just barely with your finger nail ).
